Eagle Scout Rank awarded to Matt Beck, Troop 320, Flourtown, PA.

EAGLE SCOUT AWARD PRESENTED
Local Scout has earned the Boy Scout’s highest rank advancement.
FLOURTOWN, PA - October 9, 2016 – Matthew Beck,of Erdenheim, PA, has earned the Boy Scouts of America’s highest advancement, the Eagle Scout Award.

Beck was recognized at a ceremony held at Fort Washington State Park on October 9, 2016.
A member Troop 320, Cradle of Liberty Council, Beck is one of only approximately 6 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank, according to Scoutmaster Charlie Ard.

Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church or synagogue-related service project to earn his Eagle. Beck’s project benefitted the Christ’s Lutheran Church Preschool located in Oreland, PA. He designed, built, painted and installed educational boards in the outdoor play space for the preschoolers. “I was happy my project could benefit the preschool I attended when I was younger”, said Beck.
Beck is a senior at Springfield Township High School, his list of school activities includes: varsity member of the wrestling team, co-captain of the robotics team, staff photographer for the school’s yearbook, and co-president of the school’s Nation Honor Society chapter.
Dr. Charles Rittenhouse, Principal of Springfield Township High School, attended the ceremony and spoke on behalf of the character and achievements of Beck. Letters of recognition from Superintendant of Springfield, Nancy Hacker, Senator Pat Toomey and Eric Gershman, Language Arts Teacher at Springfield Township HS were read aloud during the presentation.
Beck plans to continue as a member of the Troop as a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster. Upon graduation from high school he hopes to attend the United States Naval Academy.
