Germantown Business Robbed At Gunpoint: Police

Philadelphia Police said Olympia Sports on West Chelten Avenue was robbed of more than $340 at gunpoint on Aug. 11.

PHILADELPHIA – A sporting goods store in Germantown was robbed at gunpoint in mid August and police are asking for help identifying the suspect.

Police said at about 2:40 p.m. on Aug. 11, a man came into the Olympia Sports store at 45 W. Chelten Ave.

The man was armed with a handgun and demanded money from the cash register, police said.

Employees gave the man $345 from the cash register in a plastic bag, police said.

The man fled the store on foot heading west on Chelten Avenue then north on Greene Street, police said.

Police said no shots were fired and no one was hurt.

The suspect is described as a black mane in his late teens or early 20s. He had a dark complexion and stood 5 feet 11 inches tall. He had a goatee and was wearing a black hooded jacket with a white logo on the upper left front, dark pants, and dark New Balance sneakers.
