'Haunting, Compelling' Play 'Detroit '67' Coming To Chestnut Hill Theater

The production's cast and director will hold a special Q&A for attendees of the April 21 show.

Stagecrafters Theater in Chestnut Hill will be showing a productions of "Detroit '67," a drama about two siblings who are struggling to make ends meet in Motown.

The Stagecrafters Theater production is directed by Jane Toczek and debuts April 7.

Performances will be held Thursday through Saturday until April 23, with shows being held at 8 p.m. On Sundays, the theater will show 2 p.m matinees.

After the April 21 show, theater goers can attend a free question and answer session with the cast and director.

Tickets are $21 online, $25 at the box office, which opens 45 minutes before each performance.

Special ticket pricing is available for Thursday and Friday where tickets are two for $32 online and two for $35 at the box office.

Students with valid ID pay just $15 and seniors will pay $22 at the door for any performance.

Groups of 15 or more are offered a reduced rate of $15 a ticket.

The play is written by Dominique Morisseau and is the first in a trilogy called "The Detroit Projects."

"Detroit 67" tells the story of African American siblings Lank and Chelle as they struggle to survive in Detroit and wind up embroiled violent street disorder and racial confrontations.

Stagecrafters calls the play "haunting and compelling."
