Mt. Airy Popeye's Robbed At Gunpoint: Philadelphia Police

Philadelphia Police said a restaurant in the Mt. Airy area was robbed a gunpoint last week and released security footage of the crime. The public is asked to contact police if they know anything about the crime or the suspects involved.

According to police, the robbery occurred at about 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 at the Popeye's location on 3110 West Cheltenham Ave. in the Mt. Airy area.

At that time, two black males entered the restaurant, jumped over the counter, pointed handguns at employees and demanded money from the register, police said.

The employees complied, handing over $1,357 in cash, police said.

The tow men fled the area on foot and were last seen running through the parking lot toward Pickering or East Mt. Airy avenues, police said.

No one was injured in the incident, according to police.

Police gave the following suspect descriptions:

• Black male, mid to late 20 years old, medium complexion, medium build; wearing a gray button up hooded jacket with dark sleeves, faded blue jeans, and a dark colored baseball hat with an unknown logo; and armed with a handgun.
  
• Black male, mid to late 20 years old with a goatee, medium complexion, stocky build; wearing a dark zip-up hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, dark and white colored baseball hat, gray Nike sneakers; and armed with handgun.

Police said the public should not approach the suspects and should call 911 immediately if they are spotted.
