Shots Fired Into Mt Airy Store Thursday Evening: Police

MT. AIRY, PHILADELPHIA — Police in Philadelphia are asking for help identifying a person who fired several gunshots into a Mt. Airy business Thursday.

According to police, the shooting occurred at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12 at Best Beer Inc., 6603 Chew Ave.

A man tried to go into the store when another man inside the store saw the suspect approaching and then held the door closed, police said.

The suspect then pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and shot three times into the store while the store was full of customers, including a mother and small child, police said.

The shooter then fled the area and was last seen going towards Sharpnack Street.

No one was hurt in the shooting, police said.

Police described the shooter as black man in his late teens to early 20s. He was tall with a thin build and possible beard or goatee. He had a medium brown complexion and was wearing a dark colored jacket with a white hooded sweatshirt underneath, khaki pants, dark brown boots.

Police said he fired the gun with his left hand.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
