Supper Sessions On The Avenue Return To Mt. Airy In September

Nine participating restaurants, rotating food trucks, drink specials, kids activities and more will brighten Tuesday in September.

MT AIRY, PHILADELPHIA – Get ready Mt. Airy residents, Supper Sessions on the Avenue is returning to Germantown Avenue all throughout September to offer you unique dining every Tuesday evening in the month.

The street festival is held all along the 7100 block of Germantown Avenue from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will feature nine participating restaurants, rotating local food trucks, drink specials, kids activities, and more.

“Supper Sessions is designed to shine a light on the great local businesses here in Mt. Airy,” Brad Copeland, Mt. Airy USA’s executive director, said. “Ultimately, it’s a chance to bring the community together out in the street for a weekly event.”

Mt. Airy USA said last year's Supper Session brought in more than 1,500 people each week and hope to increase that number this year.

In addition to the nine restaurants on the block — Chef Ken's Cafe, Cresheim Valley Grain Exchange, Earth Bread + Brewery, Golden Crust Pizza, The Juice Room, Jyoti Indian Bistro, McMenamin's Tavern, Mi Puebla, and Trattoria Moma — each week will feature two rotating local food trucks.

Each week will also have options for adult libations, as well.

Trolley Car Diner will bring its bottle shop on the road and have beer to-go. New to 2017, some of Philly’s best distillers will be serving up Quintessential Cocktails in the lobby of the historic Sedgwick Theatre. Sales will benefit Mt. Airy USA and Quintessence Theatre Group, whose 2017-18 season begins in October.

Activities for children, including story time, begin at 5:30 p.m. each Tuesday, followed by a diverse range of musical performances.

Bethlehem & Sad Patrick, Ryan Tennis, Aaron Parnell Brown, and more will take the stage in front of the Sedgwick. Likewise, a host of local artists including Mt. Airy illustrators Paul Carpenter and Scott Holford, Germantown jeweler Sara Mosley, local wood artisan Joe Pruiti, and others will be hand vending their work.

On Sept. 12, Mt. Airy USA, Wells Fargo, and a contingent of invited officials will make a special announcement regarding the implementation of Mt. Airy 2025, our community-driven action plan.

In the event of inclement weather, Supper Sessions will be cancelled.

Free parking is availablein the lot behind Sedgwick Theatre. The entrance is on Chew Avenue.
