Art and Win: Meet Artist William Perry

Do you have plans for Friday, Oct. 12?

Cranberry Patch will be at the opening night of the Associated Artists of Butler County faculty show at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center. The exhibit runs through Nov. 9.

To build excitement for the show, Cranberry Patch is featuring a different local artist on the site each day leading up to the opening night.

“Poppy,” an original watercolor by Mary Alice Carmody-Diana, also will be raffled off at the event. Attendees must be present to win the artwork, which will be on display at the Patch table.

Today, we feature a profile on William Perry, whose pieces “Nine on Penn” and “Herefords” will be on display at the show.

Name: Bill Perry

Education: B.S. in Art Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania

Bio: William Perry retired from public schools after 36 years of teaching. He followed this with five years as an adjunct instructor of art history at Carnegie Mellon University in the design department.

He now teaches workshops and continuing classes both in and outside his studio in Harmony.

His primary medium is watercolors, but he paint in oils as well. Perry is a signature member of several watercolor societies and his work has garnered awards on both the local and national level.

His paintings also hang in private and corporate venues and recently were selected for the Government's Art in the Embassies program.
