Time Out

Permission to slow down and enjoy life.

It's easy to become bogged down by negativity.

Every day, we get caught up in drama, are assaulted by political battles and inundated with the trauma of world news. Add to that the stress of work, family and other obligations and the world becomes an overwhelming place.

Those who have ways to de-stress are better able to cope.

Mornings are a great time to reflect. Many women (and men) I know, get up at the crack of dawn to have a quiet moment to themselves before the busy day begins. Some participate in morning devotionals or meditation. They all know how important it is to center yourself before taking on the world.

This morning, while walking the dog, I stumbled across this view from our lower front yard as the sun rose through the trees.

Like most unexpected gifts do, this glimpse left me grateful for the moment.

It challenged me to be still, to give thanks and to spread the message.

That message is this: Take the time to stop and smell the roses. Find the beauty in every day. Make an effort to seek out the WONDER that is all around us. Give yourself permission to take mental timeouts.

We only have one life. Slow down and enjoy it!
