What is a Blue Moon?
Simply put, a blue moon is the second full moon in any given month, or the thirteenth full moon in a calendar year. Sadly, it does not describe the color of the moon’s reflected hue.
The full moon of August 31, 2012 is just such a moon.

The last blue moon occurred in March of 2010. It will be three years before we see another in July, 2015.
This particular blue moon graces the day of Neil Armstrong’s funeral. Neil Armstrong, who passed away last Saturday, Aug. 25 at the age of 82, was known as the first man to walk on the moon.

Many, including this writer, think it is a fitting tribute.
