Cranberry Among Nation's Hundred Safest Communities: Study

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - It doesn’t mean that you should leave your doors unlocked overnight, but rest easy Cranberry residents. You live in one of the nation’s safest communities.

SafeWise, a website that analyzes home security and safety statistics, has released its 2019 list of the 100 safest cities in America and Cranberry ranked 52nd. The list, which took into account violent crime and property crime rates per 1,000 residents, was compiled using FBI data.

SafeWise noted a correlation between median income and low crime, with 59 percent of the communities on the list having a median income over $100,000. Only two cities had a median income below the national average of $57,652.

According to SafeWise, Cranberry has a population of 31,191 and a median income of $101,342. Its violent crime rate last year was 0.2 per 1,000 residents, while its property crime rate was 9.2 per 1,000 residents.
