Don't Fall For Penn Power Scammers, Cranberry Police Warn

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - Township police are warning residents not to fall for two separate Penn Power scams that have surfaced in recent weeks.

Residents are being called and asked to accept a special offer that will give them 40 percent off of their Penn Power electric bill if accepted. The caller ID shows Penn Power and its customer service number of 800-720-3600, but the number has been spoofed. Police advise hanging up if you receive one of these calls.

Also, individuals are going door-to-door with materials offering surge protection. No Penn Power employees going door-to-door to sell any products. Police advise calling 911 if someone identifying themselves as a Penn Power employee shows up at your home attempting to sell anything.

Residents are reminded that if a Penn Power employee ever turns up at your home, the employee will be in a Penn Power-marked vehicle and will be wearing a Penn Power photo ID.
