Evans City Students Get Job Oriented with Career Fair

Evans City students got a glimpse of their future employment Friday with the middle school’s annual Career Fair.

“I love that they can make real life connections to what they’re learning now,” said guidance counselor Michelle Steinmetz. “They like this day a lot.”

Most of Friday’s experts, who gave insights into their careers to interested students in various classrooms, are parents of students. They included a deportation officer, a nurse, a meteorologist, a chef, an artist and many others.

Sean Adomaitis, an officer with the Zelienople police department, said he agreed to be a presenter at the request of his daughters, who are in the fifth and sixth grade.

“I really enjoyed it,” he said. “The kids were great. They had a lot of good questions.”

As for sixth-grader Savannah Adomaitis, she was thrilled to have her dad in the classroom.

“It was awesome,” she said.

Also proud of her mom was Zaydra Barkley, whose mother, in Harmony and who was a presenter at Career Day.

For her session, Zaydra said her mom let students try on items from the store and told them about starting her own business.

“Her’s was the best session,” Zaydra said. “And I’m not just saying that because she’s my mom.”
