Kiva Han Buys Crazy Mocha Coffee Company

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - Pittsburgh-area coffee lovers should perk up over this news: Two local coffee concerns are joining forces and promising a more enriching experiences at their combined company’s java joints.
Cranberry-based Kiva Han Coffee has acquired Crazy Mocha Coffee Company in an expansion of an existing business relationship. Kiva Han
has been Crazy Mocha’s exclusive bean supplier since 2007, roasting them out of its Cranberry facility.
“We’re excited about what this means for Crazy Mocha customers,” Ed Wethli, head of Kiva Han parent company Ed’s Beans, said in a statement. “We visit farms all over the world looking for the best coffee, building relationships with farmers and workers that allow us to spot trends. As one company, we can bring new harvests to customers much faster than we could as a traditional wholesaler.”

The 19 current Crazy Mocha stores will continue to operate under the same name, with founder Ken Zeff assuming the role of director of retail operations.Crazy Mocha opened its first New Jersey location last year, but will stay focused on the Pittsburgh region, where the combined company will employ approximately 150 people.
“I’m grateful to our customers for making Crazy Mocha successful,” said Zeff. “We’ll continue to actively participate in the neighborhoods we serve.”

Don’t expect major changes at the consolidated company. Kiva Han said in a release that it plans more extensive training for baristas and more sophisticated company marketing materials.
