Monday, July 15: Surgery Day 2

Surgical efforts continue...

Total knee replacement patient Carlos—one of the first patients this week—was discharged yesterday after successful physical therapy. Before he confidently walked out of the hospital with his family, he spoke with the team…

"I am 32 years old and have been living in pain for 16 years. I thought I would have to live in pain forever, because I would never be able to afford a knee replacement operation. I can't wait to play soccer with my 6 year old son Cristopher. I am so grateful that you have come and given me this opportunity. I want to tell everyone thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Yesterday, the team kicked off their second full surgical day and completed 3 total hip replacements, 1 hip revision, 9 knee replacements and 3 bilateral knee replacements. This brings the trip total to 41 surgeries so far.
