Seneca Valley Adopts Reopening Plan
The school district has released its plan to reopen schools in August.
CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA — The Seneca Valley School District has adopted a reopening plan that currently calls for a return to the traditional five-day school schedule while adhering to safety and social distancing guidelines. The school year is slated to begin on Aug. 26.
The plan was approved with Butler County in the state's green reopening phase, but the district also has established how schools will operate if the county returns to the yellow or red phase.
If Butler County moves to the yellow phase, students will attend school based on a cohort model (two cohorts based on last names A-L and M-Z). The cohort model will help the district to reduced the number of students on the buses and in each building.

Students would attend school two days per week to receive in-person instruction. Cohort A would physically attend on Mondays and Wednesdays. Cohort B would attend on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Fridays, students will work independently and have the opportunity to check in with teachers remotely.
Should Butler County return to the red phase, students who selected the traditional model will learn remotely. Student who had selected full-time cyber as their learning model will continue with their work.

The district could modify or discontinue in-person instruction regardless of Butler County’s designated color phase. That could happen if the availability of resources decline due to COVID-19 and limit the district's capacity to educate students in a bricks and mortar setting.
For those families who have health/safety concerns in the Traditional Model, the plan includes a Full-Time Cyber Model and a Hybrid Model (part-day in-person and part-day cyber).
On July 22, families will receive an email asking them to log on to the SV Portal and choose – by July 29 - the learning model that best meets their child-family needs.
