Violent Crime On The Rise In Cranberry

Burglaries also are increasing, according to a new FBI report.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - Mirroring national and regional trends, incidents of violent crime in Cranberry increased last year. That’s according to the FBI’s just-released “Crime in the United States” report.

While there were no homicides in the township last year, the number of violent crimes more than doubled over 2015. Burglaries and vehicle thefts also increased.

Nationally, violent crime increased for the second consecutive year. There were an estimated 17,250 murders in the nation last year, an 8.6 percent increase from 2015. Overall violent crime rose 4.1 percent last year. Regionally, the number of violent crimes rose in the seven-county Pittsburgh metro statistical area.
