• Mountain Watershed Association Appeals 90% Reduction In Mine Subsidence Damage Bond For Rustic Ridge Coal Mine In Westmoreland, Fayette Counties From $3.1 Million To $292,679 (blogspot.com) — A major fight is underway over how much financial protection nearby communities have if the Rustic Ridge #1 coal mine causes more subsidence damage under the Turnpike area in Donegal Township and Saltlick Township. Mountain Watershed Association is appealing a state decision that slashed the mine’s damage bond from about $3.1 million to under $300,000, arguing homeowners and local infrastructure could be left exposed for years to come.
