38K Enter Lottery For Papal Visit Rail Passes

38,013 people entered the lottery for regional rail passes needed for travel during the Pope's visit, reports say.

More than 38,000 people submitted entries into an online lottery for special regional rail passes required during the Pope’s visit to Philadelphia in September.

NBC10 reports that 38,013 people entered the lottery for regional rail passes needed for travel during the World Meeting of Families on Sept. 26 and 27.

SEPTA sold the tickets through the one-day online lottery after a website created to sell the passes crashed in July.

The first round of lottery winners will be selected by random drawing. These winners will receive an email on Thursday, Aug. 6 with a link to a secured website to complete the purchase of their Special One Day Regional Rail Passes.

Pass purchases for the first round of randomly selected winners must be completed between August 6 - 9. Each on-line purchase will include a Shipping Fee of $1.95.
