Warrington Township Police Department’s 3rd annual Kruisin’ with K9s Car Show rolled into the Shops at Valley Square in Warrington, Pa. on Saturday September 16. The event featured police vehicles, K9 demonstrations, over 160 vintage, antique and custom cars, as well as food, music, a moon bounce, and a 50/50 raffle drawing.
Kruisin with the K9s is a major fundraiser for the Warrington Township Police Department’s K9 unit. When the Warrington Township Police Department approached the Township Board of Supervisors in 2018 to start a K9 program, the police department pledged to raise the necessary funds to cover most of the costs of the program. Six years later, that still holds true. The program is about 90 percent funded by community donations. This year’s event raised over $29,000 for the K9 unit.
First responders from across the region participated in the event including: Bensalem Police Department K9 unit and their department’s Copsicle Truck, which provided free ice cream at the event; Warminster Police Department K9 unit, Central Bucks Regional Police K9 unit, Upper Southampton Police Department K9 unit, Solebury Police Department K9 unit, Abington Police Department K9 unit, Plymouth Police Department K9 unit, Bucks County Department of Emergency Communications, featuring the Command Vehicle / BUCKS1; and Warrington Fire Company and Ambulance, Tower Ladder 29, Engine 29, Squad 129.
“The was our best year yet and it keeps growing every year,” said Daniel Friel, Chief of Police, Warrington Township Police Department. “Not only is this a fundraiser to support our K9 unit, it is also the largest free- admission community event sponsored by the Police Department. So much generosity from our community and from sponsorships helped make this event possible and we are grateful to our volunteers and businesses in the area who helped out this year.” Friel continued, “The community support for the Police is amazing and we are going for it again next year in hopes of topping this year's wonderful event.”
Kruisin’ with K9s Car Show was made possible through the support of sponsors, including Chapman Auto of Horsham and McAllister Brewing Company.
