Bucks Fiber Artist Presents "Sheer Joy" In Newtown
The ArtWRKD Exhibition Space and Gallery at 128 South State Street in Newtown presents "Sheer Joy," a solo exhibit by internationally-known fiber artist Lucine, through August 17. "Sheer Joy"- a visually and intellectually stimulating experience - is divided into two distinct collections - "Ripping the Seams" and "Liberation." The "Liberation" collection delves into the historical interplay between hosiery and feminist movements, offering a profound exploration of how these seemingly everyday items have played a role in the broader narrative of women's liberation. In her "Ripping the Seams" collection, the Newtown Borough native reimagines the classic story of "The Wizard of Oz," infusing it with new meaning and layers of interpretation through her unique pantyhose medium. The village's free "Summer In Sand" exhibit reveals five sculptures celebrating favorite ways to "chill" and have fun during the summer: camping, playing games and solving puzzles; traveling to special spaces such as the Amalfi Coast in Italy; watching baseball and hanging at the beach (with Santa); and tasty treats. The storybook Peddler's Village is the ultimate stay-cation destination in Bucks County with its charming colonial-style buildings, award-winning gardens, and distinctive shopping, dining, and lodging destinations.
