At weekend event, artists turn pumpkins into works of art including a Tiffany lamp, a portrait of Picasso, a western scene, among others.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Thousands of visitors descended on the grounds of the Tileworks over the weekend to experience the magic of Halloween.
As a cool fall breeze blew through the courtyard of Henry Mercer’s landmark Tileworks, a handful of professional pumpkin carvers demonstrated their artistic talents while raising funds for the BC Cares Education Foundation.
Throughout Saturday afternoon and into the early evening hours, visitors watched as artists turned pumpkins into phenomenal works of art, including a cowboy scene, a whimsical butterfly and caterpillar garden, a fiery pumpkin head, and others.

Among the artists was Curtis May, an art teacher at Pennsbury High School who transformed his pumpkin into a portrait of famed artist Pablo Picasso.
Also working their Halloween magic were Jeff and Jackie Brown who turned their pumpkin into a desert scene with an armadillo, cactus and a scorpion. They won two awards for first place and People’s Choice.
Another stunning creation was a Tiffany Lamp created by Lisa Naples, Isabel and Austin Sheff, Flavie Martin and Sophie Cleff. The creation left some wondering, “Where’s the pumpkin?”
As the evening descended on Saturday, the pumpkin masterpieces took on the bewitching glow of the season.
The two day event also included musical acts by the School of Rock and Friends, tours of the Tileworks, art vendors, Trunk or Treating, food trucks and lots more.
Proceeds from the event benefit BC Cares Educational Foundation, a nonprofit that empowers youth to thrive through developmental programs and initiatives that promote educational success and community involvement.
