DOYLESTOWN, PA — Many will be headed to the shore or to their favorite mountain get-away for the long Labor Day weekend, but for those staying home there's plenty to keep you busy.
This weekend brings the opening of a new art exhibit at the Michener Art Museum, the return of the Polish-American Festival in New Britain Township, and the Bucks County Renaissance Faire, complete with knights in shining armor and damsels in distress.

The Bucks County Renaissance Faire returns for its third annual Labor Day Weekend celebration — Saturday, Sept. 5, through Monday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily — at the historic Moravian Pottery & Tile Works, 130 E. Swamp Road in Doylestown. After selling out its first two seasons, the Faire is once again expecting high demand, and organizers strongly recommend buying tickets in advance at BucksRenFaire.com.

The Polish-American Festival and Country Fair is celebrating its 60th anniversary with two big weekends of ethnic fun, food, and entertainment on the grounds of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in New Britain Township. Kicking off on Labor Day weekend, the festival is scheduled to run from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, Sept. 5, 6, and 7 (Labor Day Weekend), and again on Sept. 12 and 13 at 654 Ferry Road, Doylestown 18901.

ArtWRKD Gallery in Newtown has announced its fall 2026 season, bringing together three distinctive solo exhibitions alongside traditional arts workshops, live performance, local history and new opportunities for community connection. The season begins on Friday, September 4, with a double opening reception celebrating two concurrent solo exhibitions: "Working and Dreaming" by Paul B. Deery and "Rooms for Becoming" by Kimberly "Berly" Ort. Both exhibitions will be on view September 4 through 27.

While rural landscapes are the hallmark of Pennsylvania Impressionism, these artists also gave unusual attention to local quarries and factories in their paintings. A new exhibition, "Abstractions of Nature: Quarries and Industry in Pennsylvania Impressionism," which opens Saturday at the Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, reveals this unexpected fascination from Daniel Garber, Charles Rosen, and others who lived through a time of industrial transformation in the greater Delaware Valley.

The public is invited to celebrate Labor Day weekend at Sesame Place with their favorite furry friends, patriotic meet-and-greets, patriotic dining, sweet treats with Elmo and friends, parades, shows, family-friendly rides, and water attractions. For those visiting on Sept. 6, the park will light up the sky with a special Labor Day weekend fireworks display at 8 p.m.
