WARRINGTON, PA — In a rare meeting Tuesday night, the township's vacancy board voted 3 to 2 to appoint Mike Thom to an opening on the five-member board of supervisors.
The vacancy board, chaired by Dan Metz, only convenes when the board of supervisors deadlocks over the appointment of a supervisor, which happened on October 13.
Republican Supervisors Brian Kelly and Mike Diorka nominated Thom while Democratic Supervisors Andrew Mccaulay and Ruth Schemm nominated Dominick Petrillo to fill the seat formerly held by Republican Vanessa Maurer.
Maurer stepped down from the board in September due to health issues.
Metz, the township's vacancy board chair, stepped in on Tuesday night to break the tie and appoint Thom to fill the seat through December 2027.
Thom is a partner with Obermayer Law in Doylestown specializing in the areas of business and finance. In addition, he advises local governments and municipal authorities on water and wastewater system sales and acquisitions.
Thom is a member of the Warrington Township Pension Advisory Board and serves on the board of directors for Warrington Baseball and St. Joseph/St. Robert CYO. He previously served on the Montgomery Township Parks and Recreation Board and the Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation's Advancement Committee, where he was named a "Hatters Hero."
