Authentic Jewish Deli And Restaurant Opening In Doylestown

Patrons will find all of their favorite Jewish comfort foods here such as corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, brisket and Matzah Ball Soup.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Matzah Balls, an authentic Jewish restaurant and deli, has opened its doors at the former location of La Dolce Vita Da Franco at 24 North Main Street.

At Matzah Balls, patrons will find all of their favorite Jewish comfort foods such as corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, brisket of beef, kasha and bow ties, Reuben and Rachel sandwiches, and of course its namesake, Matzah Ball Soup, served in a Souper Bowl-sized tureen.

And the food is going to be spectacular, promises Master Chef Franco Federico, who has lived in Doylestown ever since coming to America in 1979. "I have to be honest with you, I've been eating the pastrami like there's no tomorrow."

Diners are also encouraged to save room for a slice of authentic Jewish Apple Cake or an old-fashioned egg cream soda.

The new eatery is owned by Master Chef Federico, a well known restaurateur in Bucks-Mont who has opened 17 other popular fine dining restaurants over the past 40 years including Fountainside Seafood & Grille, Ariana’s Ristorante Italiano, and most recently La Dolce Vita Da Franco where he had built a faithful following.

"Everything I have ever done is through my heart and with passion," said Federico.

Matzah Balls, said Federico, is his way of honoring his Italian-Jewish heritage by combining his love of cooking and being the ultimate host. That is why every adult who orders a complete dinner will be offered a free glass of Kosher Asti wine from Italy.

The eatery will also feature special menus for gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan diners.

In the mood for Italian food? The menu includes a section called Italian specialties where Franco will prepare a delicious meal from his most popular Italian dishes that his loyal diners crave.

When patrons walk into the new eatery, they will find themselves inside an authentic full service Jewish deli where they can shop for cut-to-order sliced meats by weight, smoked fish, hard salami, cheeses, and homemade salads.

The deli will also offer Jewish rye, challah and other breads from Jeff Solomon Inc., Philadelphia, and bagels baked fresh every morning by the award winning Village Bagel Co. in nearby Warrington.

A more formal 60 seat main dining room is located in the back just past the open kitchen where patrons can enjoy sandwiches and the restaurant's specialty dishes.

The eatery also boasts a beautiful outdoor patio where customers can sit outside and enjoy a full dinner or maybe just stop by for some waffles and ice cream and a can of Dr. Brown’s soda.

The patio will be open even on chilly nights with space heaters available if it gets too nippy. Oh, and the patio is “Good Dog” friendly every day until 6 p.m.

"I hope that Doylestown will enjoy this. It's going to be something new and I will do my best to satisfy their palates," said Federico.
