Barnes & Noble Opening At Barn Plaza In Doylestown Township

DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The nation's newest Barnes & Noble store will officially open to the public at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the Barn Plaza on Route 611 in Doylestown Township.

The bookstore will showcase the highly lauded bookstore design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings, featuring all the best books, toys, games and gifts that customers have come to expect from the national bookseller.

“It’s been 16 years since we’ve opened a new Barnes & Noble in this area. Now this grand opening marks one of 10 Barnes & Noble bookstores to open their doors in September alone,” said James Daunt, CEO, Barnes & Noble. “Encouraging booksellers to adopt a mindset where they cater to their friends, their neighbors, their readers — it allows us to create stores that draw from and give back to the community.”

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers.

In 2023, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decadefrom 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 50 new bookstores in 2024.

The Doylestown location is one of ten new Barnes & Noble bookstores set to open in September, alongside new locations in Delaware, Texas, Florida, New York, Arizona, Nevada and Tennessee. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.

“I am honored to be at the helm of bringing this new Barnes & Noble bookstore to our literary community here in Doylestown,” said Sean Curran, store manager. “My time as a bookseller has taken me many places — and I couldn’t be more excited to welcome readers into this beautiful

new bookstore.”

The store will be opening inside a brand new 11,300-square-foot space at the heart of the Barn
Plaza and next to the new Whole Foods store, which is slated to open later this year.

This will be Barnes & Noble's third store in Bucks County. The bookseller also has locations in Falls Township and at the Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem. The Barn Plaza, which is owned and operated by Brixmor, is also home to Kohl's Department Store, Douglas Jewelers, Piccolo Trattoria, Gerhard's Appliances, Honeygrow, Mattress Firm, and others.
