"Be Kind" 5K To Step Off This Spring In Support Of Kin Wellness Center

BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The first ever "Be Kind" 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run will hit the ground running on April 15 at Holicong Park in Buckingham Township.

Participants from throughout the community are invited to run or walk to honor, celebrate, and inspire those who have battled or are battling cancer.

The race, the newest addition to the Bucks 5K Series and an officially certified 5K Race, will benefit Kin, a non-profit all-inclusive Holistic Wellness and Support Center providing free services to cancer patients and their caregivers across Bucks County.

"The Bucks 5K Series is excited to welcome a new race, the Be Kind 5K, as our 7th race. The mission of the Kin Wellness and Support Center is a perfect fit with the other community nonprofits in the series,” shares series founder Dick Patterson.

The event's presenting sponsor is LBK Design Build. Lorraine Jasper, a local world class runner and cancer survivor, will serve as the race ambassador.

“I was drawn to support Kin through the Be Kind 5k and 1 Mile Run as the Presenting Sponsor to support a non-profit that helps people in our backyard. My business is based in Bucks County, my clients span across Bucks County and this amazing event reinforces my company’s dedication to this community and the cancer patients and their families who will benefit through Kin Wellness and Support Center,” shares Nick Kornea, president of LBK Design Build.

The 5K will wind its way through the 83 acre park on an expansive and relatively flat surface.

Race registration is now open to the entire community of runners, joggers and walkers at www.bucks5kseries.com.

Bucks County resident Brooke Lahr said she was "inspired to sign up for the Be Kind 5K to support my sister who's a breast cancer survivor, and a guest at Kin and for our beloved Aunt. Keep fighting," she said

The event has attracted 12 sponsors including LBK Design Build, Jarrett Vaughan Builders, Scott
Payne Pools, Thompson Detail Center, Evolution Candy, Portalis Insurance, Club Pilates, Bucks County Integrative Medicine, LaPlaca Insurance, Kim Porter Homes, ELA Outdoor Living, and Suburban Autoworks.

Preparing for the Be Kind 5K are Jessica Hilton, Beth Cady,Kristina Fenimore, Jen Estelle and Keith Fenimore.

The Be Kind Team is comprised of locals volunteering their time, including Chris Millili, Joanne Hopkins, James Lamb, Mike Subs, and Brian Vaughan.

“When we heard that the Be Kind 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run was interested in hosting their event at Holicong Park we were thrilled to be able to accommodate the non-profit. The park is beloved by the community and a great back drop for this much anticipated event,” said Mary Jane Atkinson from the Parks and Recreation department in Buckingham Township.

Kin Wellness and Support Center is a nonprofit that cares for more than 270 local cancer patients and their caregivers, offering free services made possible by community support. Kin joined the 5K Series to promote wellness and community camaraderie while helping local cancer patients.
One hundred percent of the registration fee for the event will go to Kin Wellness and Support Center.
