Buckingham's First Night Market Making Its Debut At Holicong Park

BUCKINGHAM, PA — Buckingham Township’s first ever Night Market is taking place tonight at Holicong Park and everyone’s invited to attend.

The event is being billed as an evening of local food, shopping, live music, and family fun and will be taking place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

“It’s going to be a beautiful community night in Buckingham,” promises Lisa Braud, who is spearheading the event for the township’s newly constituted parks and recreation board. “Come on out and support your local businesses, your local community and your local farmers. There’s going to be good food, live music, lots of fun and something for everyone.”

At the heart of the event will be 45 market vendors featuring a mix of farm-fresh produce, local businesses, artisans, and community partners.

A free Kids Zone will offer plenty for the kids to do, including bounce houses, balloon art, complimentary face painting, and a rain gutter regatta staged by a local Cub Scout pack.

Rounding out the activities will be fun and games organized by the township's parks and recreation board, as well as a food drive for the Bucks County Housing Group (bring canned goods and soup, pasta and rice, peanut butter and cereal, and hygiene and personal care items).

Plus, there will be live music by RJ Acoustic Performance.

Nine food trucks will also be on site, including Skips Chicken from Wrightstown, Smokestack BBQ, Bonjour Creperie, Top Dog Hot Dogs, Local Harvest Pizza, Sloby Ice Cream, Kona Ice, and Travelin Tom’s Coffee. Also, Free Spirit will be serving mocktails.

“It's the perfect way to spend a summer evening with family, friends, and neighbors while supporting the amazing local businesses that make Buckingham special,” said Braud.

Braud, who owns Hollow House Farm at Dark Hollow and Swamp Roads and who has been organizing farmer’s markets in other townships, said she’s excited to bring the new night market concept to the township and connect the community to local businesses and to the local farming community.

“We wanted to find a way to get people into the parks, engage the community and connect them with our local farms and businesses,” explained Braud. “We wanted to do our own type of farmer’s market, but we didn’t want to compete with the existing markets. So we made it in the evening.”

The event is also designed to give residents a reason to engage with the parks, said Braud.

“Many people don’t have a relationship with our parks. Maybe they don’t have a reason. They don’t have kids in sports. They don’t run or jog. Let’s give them an opportunity to come see Holicong Park,” she said. “Come meet local businesses and organizations, meet their neighbors and just have that feel good energy of an evening.”

Braud said social media posts about the upcoming “Night Markets” have been generating a buzz around the township. “So many people want that community experience. They want to connect with their neighbors. But they don’t know how. This is such an easy way to do that. Just circle your calendar, bring your family and friends and spend a night outdoors in the park connecting with your neighbors and learning about our township businesses and farms.”

Supervisor Mike Bateman, the liaison to the parks and recreation board, said he's "super excited" about the new Night Market.

“It’s unlike anything that Buckingham has ever offered before," he said. "It’s going to be awesome and so much fun. We’re going to have face painting, balloon animals, live music, food trucks, local farms and artisans. It’s going to be a really great way for our residents to support our locally owned businesses and farming community.”

And the best thing is there are two more Night Markets planned for August 28 and Sept. 25.
