Bucks Beekeepers Announce Beginner & Intermediate Classes

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — If you always dreamed of becoming a beekeeper, you're not alone.

Interest in beekeeping in the U.S. is expected to grow in 2023.

Fortunately, learning about beekeeping is easily found in Bucks County with both beginner and intermediate beekeeping courses offered by the Bucks County Beekeepers Association (BCBA).

The classes are designed to meet local and seasonal beekeeping needs in a lecture and discussion format as well as hands-on time at the club’s demonstration hive. While the eight month beginner class will be in person only in Forest Grove, the eight month intermediate class will be in person with a Zoom option.

“Helping beekeepers be well informed and educated is part of the mission of Bucks County Beekeepers Association," shared BCBA President and Master Beekeeper Joe Dervan. "Offering local, in person classes as well as guest speakers at our monthly meetings are two ways that BCBA supports beekeepers."

The beginner beekeeper class is taught by Mark Antunes, the Pennsylvania State Beekeeper of the Year for 2021. Dr. Vincent Aloyo, a master beekeeper, teaches the intermediate beekeeper class.
