POINT PLEASANT, PA — Dharma Bums, a popular Bucks County restaurant and bar known for its Grateful Deaf weekends and vegetarian-inspired menu, will celebrate the life and legacy of Grateful Dead founding member Bobby Weir on Saturday.

Tigers in a Trance will be at the Point Pleasant eatery and entertainment venue at 8 p.m., bringing the songs of The Grateful Dead to life, while celebrating the legacy of Weir - guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and founding member of the Grateful Dead - who died Jan. 10 at the age of 78.

The special night will bring together musicians deeply connected to Bobby’s musical legacy, including Mark Diomede (Solar Circus), Kenny Brooks (Ratdog), and the rhythm section of John Nemeth & Dan Donovan (Cosmic Jerry Band).

“Kenny Brooks will be here playing saxophone that night...he was in Bob's side project, Ratdog, tasteful Dead weekends, for 10+ years,” said Dharma Bums owner Steve Trachtenberg.

Dharma Bums is located on the bank of the Delaware River Canal, just a short walk from the Tohickon Creek and High Rocks Vista. For more than 50 years, the building was home to Apple Jack, a
notorious rough-and-tumble bar where many had their first underage drink, said Steven. It then flipped over to The Local for a few years, and then it remained dormant for close to six years.

The 19th-century building has a deep and storied past, its hallowed halls ringing of rebellion and resistance - a gathering place for the Black Cat Motorcycle Club, and even the watering hole for revolutionary patron Abbie Hoffman, whose famed Dump the Pump meetings were held within its very walls.

After acquiring the property, Fiona and Steven Trachtenberg renovated the building, taking great pains not to alter too much of the community landmark.

“It was like we gave the building a big hug,” said Fiona of the renovation project.

“We embraced the history and the lineage of the building, bringing it to what it is now,” added Steve.

Dharma Bums is located at 4935 River Road, New Hope, 18938. For information, call 215-663-2867 or email info@dbums.com
