DA's Office: Police In Bucks On Heightened Alert For Impaired Drivers

Bucks County First District Attorney offers tips for the long holiday weekend.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Police throughout Bucks County will be out in force during the long Independence Day holiday weekend warning motorists to "Safeguard Your Freedom, Drive Sober."

Starting on June 30th and continuing into the Fourth of July holiday on Tuesday night, police departments will be on heightened alert for impaired motorists.

"So if you plan on drinking or doing drugs, don't drive. If you plan on celebrating, plan for a sober ride home. Use a ride-share program or a designated driver," said Bucks County First District Attorney Jennifer Schorn.

"If you're hosting a cookout, take care of your guests and make sure they get home safely," said Schorn. "Obviously if you see an impaired driver on the road please call 911.

"Statistics show that injuries, fatalities, and crashes increase during the holiday. So let's change that by being responsible. Remember these safety tips as you prepare for the holiday weekend and spread the message to family and friends. Let's all be safe as we celebrate our country's Independence Day. "
