Bucks County Tennis Players Compete In Princeton Competition
Local players vied for the Eve Kraft Cup.

Eight young tennis athletes from Bucks County competed in the Bucks County Tennis Association, Inc. (BCTA) 2016 Delaware River Rivalry Tennis League, traveling to Princeton, N.J., to compete against the Princeton Tennis Program (PTP) for the coveted Eve Kraft Cup.
The teams participated in intramural multiple scrimmage matches before the Cup match. BCTA players were: Ohm and Pranav Shah, Jackson Weiler, Jake Eisenberg, Grant Cheung, Neha Shirwalker, Elizabeth Howell, Ariel Chen, Wes Cohen, Echo Cadmus, and Lily and Emily Johannan.
The team tennis competition tallies all games won by a player toward the overall team score, and the 16-and-under Bucks County team battled even 30–30 early in the Cup competition before the more experienced PTP 14-and-under squad surged ahead in later matches to clinch the victory.

The BCTA thanks the athletes for representing Bucks County with spirit and good sportsmanship, and thanks the parents for supporting their children’s tennis. Special appreciation goes to Parent Team Managers Elizabeth Mathews and Chaitra Shirwalker as well as to Laura Canfield for serving as BCTA league coordinator and to PTP’s Eric Wall for serving as tournament host/coordinator and providing the Bucks athletes with welcome gifts.
The Cup is named after the late Eve Kraft who is considered the Mother of recreational and community tennis in the United States and founded the Princeton Tennis Program more than a half century ago. PTP was one of the first and now most successful Community Tennis Associations in the United States. Eve Kraft was also a mentor to BCTA founders and inspired the creation of the BCTA.
