Busy Bee Toys Throwing 10th Birthday Party Saturday, And You're Invited

Busy Bee Toys will celebrate its 10th birthday with prizes, giveaways, activities and discounts this weekend. The festivities will be held Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Full schedule of events below.)

Busy Bee Toys, which opened in 2006, is located at 58 E. State Street and offers an array of unique and creative children's toys and games.

Owner Nerice Kendter says she excited to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of her shop.

“This is such a special community and I am so grateful that Busy Bee Toys has been embraced by so many wonderful families," said Kendter.

According to Kendter, during its decade in business, the shop has stayed true to its mission of being a family-friendly, hands-on toy store where "childhood is embraced."

Over the past 10 years, Kendter said product selection has broadened to meet customer needs and more staff have been hired so the shop can be open seven days a week. "All of the employees have their own unique talents and bring so much to the shopping experience," Kendter told Patch.

She says she enjoys watching her loyal customers grow, and welcoming new customers into the shop for the first time.

Loyal customers say the shop has helped people make friendships and find a community connection. “Busy Bee Toys is not just a store, it is a community," said longtime customer Mary Jane Harris.

• 10-11am: Games and Prizes
• 11-12pm: Fun with Wikki Stix
• 12-1pm: Face Painting
• 1-2pm: Tenzi Tournament and Prizes
• 2-4pm: Special appearance by Crazy Aaron. Come and play with globs of of your favorite putty...get Aaron's autograph on any putty tin purchased during the party.
