“Guardian of the Golden Gate” Kevin Briggs to Headline Suicide Prevention Conference in Bucks County

Retired California Highway Patrol sergeant, internationally recognized FBI-trained crisis negotiator, and mental health advocate known as the “Guardian of the Golden Gate,” Kevin Briggs, will share his story of helping hundreds of people in suicidal crisis as the keynote speaker at the 2026 Suicide Prevention Conference.

Presented by Lenape Valley Foundation and sponsored by the Vesta Fund and the Bucks County Suicide Prevention Task Force, the conference will be held on Oct. 2, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Zlock Performing Arts Center at the Bucks County Community College campus at 275 Swamp Road, Newtown.

The annual conference brings together professionals and community members alike for sessions that explore innovative practices and compassionate approaches to preventing suicide and promoting well-being for all.

This year’s powerful lineup of speakers features Briggs, who used his compassionate “Listen to Understand” approach while patrolling the Golden Gate Bridge. In addition to his keynote “Understanding Resiliency and Post-Traumatic Growth,” he will also deliver a breakout workshop “Crisis Communication.” He will be joined by numerous other presenters who will offer vital and practical information crucial to suicide prevention.

Open to the public, the conference is approved for 5 continuing education hours for professionals. The registration fee of $50 includes a continental breakfast and boxed lunch.
