DAL Meeting with speaker Taryn Day: The Art of Paying Attention.

My paintings have changed considerably over the years- in medium, scale, speed, and approach- but at the center of my work has always been the act of looking closely. In this talk, I’ll share paintings from different periods of my career, from my early oils and years of Daily Painting to my more recent work in pastels, watercolor, charcoal and nature journaling. 

I’ll talk about how different mediums have changed the way I see, and how working quickly, slowly, and directly from the natural world have each taught me something about painting. For me, realism is about paying attention.
