A man died after he was bitten by a rattlesnake while camping in Pennsylvania, authorities said Monday.

NBC New York reports that Russell Davis, 39, died from a rattlesnake bite he got while sitting around a campfire Saturday in western Pennsylvania.

He was at a private camp near Medix Run in Elk County, authorities told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

According to the Tribune-Review, the man was rushed to a local medical facility but went into cardiac arrest while being transferred to a hospital in Pittsburgh.
