BLACK DIAMOND, a New American Musical
A New Musical of Grit, Greed, and the Ghost of Justice Deep in the anthracite heart of 1860s Pennsylvania, a storm is brewing. Black Diamond follows the harrowing journey of Irish immigrants who traded the famine of the Old World for the coal-dusted exploitation of the New. Caught between the crushing weight of the mines and the iron fist of the coal lords, a community is pushed to its breaking point. This high-octane production explores the desperate rise of secret societies and the explosive consequences of labor violence that redefined the American Dream.
This is an opportunity to work with the writers and developers of this new musical in a three week workshop style rehearsal period culminating in the first staged reading of this new musical and the potential for future development of the piece.
