CB West Football Coach to Be Replaced After Hazing Scandal

Brian Hensel, head football coach at Central Bucks West, will be replaced, district officials announced Tuesday.

The head football coach at Central Bucks West High School will be replaced after a hazing scandal that cut the season short.

Brian Hensel, head football Coach at the Doylestown high school, will be replaced, district officials announced Tuesday. Hensel will continue his teaching duties in the high school, according to the district.

A comprehensive search for a new head coach will begin shortly, Superintendent David Weitzel said in a statement. Weitzel’s statement was released as the district announced its internal investigation into the hazing allegations has concluded.

The suspension of the assistant coaches has been lifted, the district said. “Their future involvement with the football program will be determined after the selection of the new head coach,” said Weitzel.

There will be no additional district-administered sanctions or discipline for any of the players, Weitzel said. “The District has notified the Bucks County District Attorney and the Central Bucks Regional Police Department that the internal investigation has concluded.”

The school’s football season was cancelled last month as law enforcement officials launched an investigation into allegations of hazing that happened at a team picnic in August.

Weitzel made the announcement to cancel the season just one day before the much-anticipated homecoming game against Central Bucks East. The decision prompted frustration from players and parents, who said the administration rushed to judgment when it cancelled the season.
