CB West Harlequin Club Presents Peter and the Starcatcher

Ever wonder how Peter Pan can fly, why the lost boys never age or how Captain Hook really lost his hand? The well-loved story of Peter Pan is full of mysteries that authors Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson attempt to answer in their 2004 novel, Peter and the Starcatchers. It will be playing at Central Bucks West High School starting Nov. 15.

The play based on the novel centers on the mysterious “star stuff” and the quest to keep it in the hands of good and out of the hands of evil. The result is a comedic adventure on the high seas that provides backstories for Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Mrs. Darling and Tinkerbell.

CB West Director, Jessica Bostock selected the show not only because it would be highly entertaining to all ages but also because it offers the student actors many learning opportunities

“I always consider what tools the student actors will gain from each show and I believe Peter & the Starcatcher provides several, while simultaneously providing a fun, rich story to portray.” Bostock explained the show is a ‘story theatre’ style show in that as an ensemble the actors create the spaces, the environment, and the overall energy of every scene.

Student actors will also be trained on dialect, comedic timing and strong character acting. While not a musical, the show does have supplemental music and will be music directed by Dr. Joseph Ohrt and accompanied by Mr. Todd Bunce.

Peter and the Starcatcher is playing at Central Bucks West High School, 375 West Court Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 and runs Thursday, November 15th through Saturday, November 17th. Curtain time is 7:00pm.
