Central Bucks Schools Closed Tuesday For Flexible Instructional Day

Learning will take place at home on Tuesday while schools and buildings will be closed and all after school activities are canceled.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — After enjoying a snow day on Monday, students in the Central Bucks School District will return to school virtually on Tuesday, Jan. 27 via a Flexible Instructional Day (FID).

Learning will take place from home on Tuesday while schools and buildings will be closed and all after school activities are canceled.

"While snowfall has stopped, the amount of snow and temperatures below freezing tonight and into tomorrow will continue to create icy conditions on secondary roads, sidewalks, parking lots, and school grounds," said Dr. Charles Malone, interim superintendent. "Our incredible facilities, grounds, and transportation crews have been out all day clearing our campuses, parking lots, roadways, and buses, and we are grateful for their efforts. Calling a FID tomorrow allows us to prioritize safety in these frigid temperatures and conditions, while also giving our operations teams additional time to address ice and other wintry conditions across the district."

Malone said a decision about Wednesday, Jan. 28, will be made on Tuesday and the district will notify the community through its usual communication channels.

Tuesday, Jan. 27 was scheduled as the end of the second marking period and an early dismissal day. Because Jan. 26 is a snow day and Jan. 27 a FID, the first day back in school will be Final Exam Day 2 for high schools and a full day for middle schools. The next day back will be an end-of-marking-period early dismissal day for secondary students.
