DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Central Bucks School District is canceling all after-school activities scheduled for today (January 9) due to the forecast for heavy rainfall, flooding and high winds this evening and tonight.

Aftercare at the elementary school will close at 5 p.m. today. "We are asking parents to pick children up as soon as possible," said the district.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates regarding Wednesday's opening, including any necessary changes. We will make a decision on tonight's school board meeting prior to the end of the school day."

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly said that the region could receive up to 3 inches of rain with the heaviest rainfall expected from later this afternoon until 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The ground remains saturated following multiple rounds of heavy rainfall over the last month, raising concern over flooding throughout the region, said the weather forecasters.

Meanwhile, there is a wind advisory for inland areas with gusts up to 55 mph in some areas, the weather service said.
