Central Bucks Grad Interviews for Washington Defensive Coordinator Opening

The Washington Redskins have interviewed Central Bucks West graduate Mike Pettine for their defensive coordinator position, the team confirmed in a Twitter post on Monday.

Pettine, 50, has coached at William Tennent and North Penn.

He became the first area coach to go on to be a head coach in the NFL in 2014 when he was appointed the top job with the Browns. He was fired from that position at the end of last season.

The Redskins finished the season 8-7-1, good for third in the NFC East ahead of the last place Eagles, but missing out on a playoff spot. They recently fired their previous defensive coordinator, Joe Barry.

According to ESPN.com, Pettine is probably one of seven candidates for the position. He previously served as the defensive coordinator for the New York Jets for four years.

Pettine's father, of the same name, was a legendary coach at Central Bucks West for 33 years, winning multiple state titles.
