Central Bucks Regional Recognizes Officer For Lifesaving Actions
Officer Timothy Conboy came to the aid of a fellow officer when he suffered a medical emergency in the squad room.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — A Central Bucks Regional Police Officer received the department's Life Saving Commendation on Wednesday for coming to the aid of a fellow officer suffering from a medical emergency.
Chief Karl Knott presented the commendation to Officer Timothy Conboy at the monthly meeting of the Central Bucks Regional Police Commission. He was joined by the commission's chairman Brian Wallace in making the presentation.
On Nov. 3, Officer Conboy was in the squad room when a fellow officer suffered a rapid-onset medical emergency after ingesting food into his airway. The officer began choking and was unable to breathe or speak, the chief said.

Officer Conboy immediately recognized the significance of the problem and came to the officer’s aid. He loosened the officer’s ballistic vest and began administering abdominal thrusts until the obstruction was partially cleared.
As Officer Conboy continued to monitor the officer, he realized that he was still in great distress as his airway remained partially blocked despite attempts to clear it, said Chief Knott. Officer Conboy began a second round of abdominal thrusts, finally clearing the airway to the point where he could breathe and speak.

Paramedics were called and transported the officer to the Doylestown Hospital where he was evaluated and his airway was confirmed to be clear.
"Officer Conboy’s quick thinking, his adherence to his prior medical training, as well as his devotion to the care of his fellow officers, is a credit to himself, the Central Bucks Regional Police Department, and our profession," said Chief Knott.
