DOYLESTOWN, PA — Republicans Lisa Sciscio and Debra Cannon have officially tendered their resignations to the Central Bucks School Board.

School Board President Karen Smith confirmed the receipt of letters from both women and said a special board meeting will be held on Friday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. at district headquarters on Welden Drive to accept the resignations and to begin the process of finding their replacements.

The two board members verbally announced their intentions to resign after the board had adjourned its February 13 school board meeting but it was unclear at the time whether they would follow through with their intentions.

Sciscio, who represents Region 4, and Cannon, who represents Region 7, had served in the majority until the Democratic Party won control in November and flipped the board from 6 to 3 Republican to 6 to 3 Democratic.

Their resignations leave only one Republican on the board - James Pepper - who represents Region 9.
