Central Bucks West has a new head football coach.

Charles Cathers, a defensive coordinator at New Hope-Solebury High School, has been selected as the new head coach. He will replace Brian Hensel, who was fired after a hazing scandal that cut the season short in the fall.

Cathers, of Doylestown, is a Central Bucks West High School graduate. He played for Ursinus College, where he was a four-year football athlete and team captain during his senior year.

The school’s football season was cancelled in October as law enforcement officials launched an investigation into allegations of hazing that happened at a team picnic in August.
