Central Bucks West HS Harlequin Club Presents The Sound of Music

The CB West Auditorium renovation was completed in January of this year, just in time for the Harlequin Club to enjoy the benefits of the many renovations for its spring show The Sound of Music. The renovations included a stage extension, an acoustical cloud, general acoustical upgrades, lighting upgrades, sound system upgrades, new rigging equipment for the stage curtain systems, backstage improvements, and cosmetic improvements. Given all the acoustical upgrades The Sound of Music seems a perfect choice for the new theater!

The Sound of Music was written in 1959 and was Rogers & Hammerstein’s final collaboration. The show with its message of hope coupled with beautiful music continues to be one of the world’s most beloved musicals. Director Lauren Bagnick is thrilled to bring this show to the CB West stage. The show’s Music Director is Dr. Joseph Ohrt, CB West Director of Choral Activities.

The talented cast is led by Junior Taylor Mitchell (Maria), Senior Jacob Janik (Captain), Senior Mary Kate Prisco (Mother Abbess), Senior Gianni Recupero (Max Detweiler) and Junior Nora Dowdell (Elsa Schraeder). The younger Von Trapp children are being played by Central Bucks elementary and middle school students: Gretl (Addison Rogers), Marta (Lucie Van Hoof ), Brigitta (Sierra Safran) and Kurt (Jackson Manning ). They are joined by West Students Lily Bunce playing Louisa, Patrick Meeks playing Friedrich and Emma Gogol playing Liesl.

The Sound of Music is playing at Central Bucks West High School, 375 West Court Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 and runs Thursday March 22nd through Saturday March 24th. Curtain time is 7:30pm Thursday March 22nd, Friday March 23rd, and Saturday March 24th. There is a Saturday matinee at 2:00pm on Saturday March 24th.
