DOYLESTOWN, PA — Puck presents three local spectaculars during the month of December, including a Christmas show like no other and a performance by Doylestown rockers, Ceramic Animal.

Over the last year, Joe Montone of Picnics On Pine has produced more than 40 events at Puck spanning dance parties, concerts, and comedy shows with support from Lynn Goldman and Goldman Law Offices.

Though the venue has only been per event, the select programming at Puck is not-to-be-missed - and this month is no exception.

"Doylestown is even more special around the holidays," says Montone, a lifelong Doylestown resident and independent concert producer. "So we all deserve those extra local and meaningful gatherings with our neighbors and friends to truly send the year off right."

This Saturday, Dec. 9 acclaimed Billy Joel tribute, "River Of Dreams," takes the stage. The show features the debut of new lead singer and frontman Mike Borowski. Mike has years of experience as a solo and dueling pianos artist, and also plays keys for local favorite Splintered Sunlight. He’s sung the Billy Joel repertoire his whole life and will now have the expert backing of the River of Dreams band.

The Holy Heat Band.

The fantastic local brass-driven party band, Cherry Lane Band opens the night with their high energy rock and R&B hits which has brought local audiences to their feet for the last two decades.

Next Friday, Dec. 15 Puck presents a Christmas show like no other led by Montone and local Broadway veteran, Jenny Lee Stern. The pair will be backed by an all-star band of local players featuring Tyler Kofron, Jim Keifer, Matt Kelly, and Jim Fogarty. They will be expanding their repertoire of classics from Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Patsy Cline with funky holiday tunes in time for the days leading up to Christmas.

"Sitting in with the Holy Heat band every year has now become a pre-holiday tradition and it’s so special to me," Stern says. "Jamming with these guys is so fun and liberating and lets me work a different part of my musical brain. I’m used to a scripted Broadway atmosphere (even when I play Patsy Cline) so the opportunity to be a rock star a couple nights out of the year is thrilling."

Montone recommends getting advanced tickets as last year's Holy Heat Thunder Funky Country Christmas Show festivities sold out quickly.

On Saturday, December 23, local rockers Ceramic Animal host a very personal evening for their hometown crowd. The band is comprised of Doylestown born and raised brothers Chris, Elliott, and Erik Regan as well as Anthony Marchione, and Lambertville native, Dallas Hosey. This will not be the standard Ceramic Animal rock show. Expect giveaways, surprise guests, decor, and a holiday-ready wardrobe.

The band will play some of their hits, but also covers of their Christmas favorites, original holiday material, and even debut a handful of tracks off their next full length coming out in 2024.

Drummer Erik Regan says, "Playing back home in Doylestown is always a blast. We have been playing Puck here and there for 5 or 6 years now. It's an amazing sounding room, super intimate, great vibe to feel like you are part of the show. It’s always a pleasure working with Picnics On Pine to bring these hometown shows, too. We love being part of that community. There’s no place like home for the holidays."

As for 2024, Montone mentions big plans outside of Puck with the launch of a nonprofit to sustainably present live music in Doylestown and beyond.

"I'm so grateful for the experiences presenting Picnics On Pine and shows at Puck," he says, "and now it's time to do it in a way that will make our arts community stronger than ever and to create even more lasting memories together."
