Challenge Filed Against Zoning For New Doylestown Wawa: Report
The issue is scheduled to be discussed at a July 18 zoning hearing board meeting.

The owner of the existing Wawa property in Doylestown Borough is reportedly challening a zoning change that would allow a new Wawa with gas pumps to be constructed down the road.
The Intelligencer reports MC Doylestown, LLC filed the challenge against the zoning change approval by Borough Council. MC Doylestown owns the property with the existing Wawa, the report said.
The issue is scheduled to be discussed at a July 18 zoning hearing board meeting.

In January, Doylestown Borough Council approved a zoning change that would allow for a new Wawa on South Main Street, at the site of the former TD Bank.
A land development application for the project must still be submitted and approved for the proposal at 425 South Main Street. During the meeting in January, many residents expressed opposition to the concept of the Wawa store and gas station, citing traffic, aesthetics, and safety concerns.

"Most of the objections that I'm hearing today are not really about the zoning of this property, but about the uses after the zoning," Council member Don Berk said at the time. "What we are looking at right now is whether it's not consistent to rezone this property...it seems to me that it is."
Berk said down the line, as the application process accelerates, he may very well vote no on the Wawa.
