Cold Air Moves In, Roads Slowly Improving In Bucks Co.

Here's how much snow fell in Bucks County, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, N.J.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — With schools and most county and municipal offices closed today, road crews are working overtime to clear the streets from the heavy snow and ice from Sunday's storm.

"Road conditions remain hazardous," reported the Doylestown Township Police Department Monday morning. "Please stay off the roads if possible. If travel is necessary, slow down and make sure your vehicle is completely cleared of ice and snow before heading out."

In Doylestown Borough, public works crews were removing snow on Hamilton, Harvey and Shewell Monday morning. They will continue into the evening, clearing the borough's snow emergency routes.

According to Facebook reports and PennDOT traffic cameras, Interstate 295 in Lower Bucks is wet and so is the Newtown Bypass with some patches of snow. Many of the side streets are still snow-covered.

State Rep. Perry Warren's office is reporting that SEPTA is gradually restoring service, with Saturday Regional Rail schedule in effect on Monday and bus and metro operating on a Monday schedule.

The storm that pounded the Philadelphia region on Sunday has come and gone, leaving heavy snow accumulations and a dig-out that could last for several days.

The National Weather Service said that while the storm is gone, freezing temperatures will stick around for most of the week. Monday will be the warmest with temperatures climbing to 27 degrees.

A cold weather advisory has been issued beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday and continuing to 10 a.m. on Wednesday. It will be very cold with wind chills of five to 10 degrees below zero expected. Wind chills as low as 10 below could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
