DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Bucks County residents are again being asked to bundle up, step outside and experience what it’s like to be homeless during "The Coldest Night of the Year" (CNOY).

The family-friendly winter fundraising walk returns to Doylestown Borough on Feb. 28 in support of programs and services for those experiencing homelessness and hunger throughout Bucks County.

The walk is being organized by the YWCA of Bucks County, the Bucks County Opportunity Council (BCOC), the Bucks County Housing Group (BCHG) and the Family Service Association who have come together in support of individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Bucks County.

The Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser has become a national tradition with events in more than 300 communities across North America. Each February, tens of thousands of walkers lace up, fundraise, and step into the cold together, raising millions for local charities.

The Bucks County walk begins at the Justice Center in Doylestown, where participants will register, submit their fundraising totals, and embark on their route through the town. Fundraisers who raise $150 (adults) or $75 (youth) receive the iconic CNOY hat.

Along the way, walkers will experience hot drinks and camaraderie, before celebrating together at the finish line at the James Lorah Auditorium, where food and drinks promise to warm everyone up from head to toe.

This year marks the fourth year that the nonprofits have hosted CNOY, with a fundraising goal of $40,000. Last year, more than $40,000 was raised by 29 teams, 254 walkers, and 542 donors. Sponsorship opportunities are still available with Foundations Community Partnership and Fox Rothschild already signed up to contribute to the cause.

“CNOY is a highlight of the year for us and a fantastic way for all of our organizations to connect with the community, share our mission, and bring in funds which make an impact, ” said Erin Lukoss, CEO of Bucks County Opportunity Council. "We’re inviting everyone to walk with us and make a difference because it's cold out there!”

According to Lukoss, there are many ways to get involved … walk, form a team, donate, volunteer, or be a route sponsor. To register and for more more information, click here.
