Couples Invited To Tie The Knot At Weddings For Heroes Event In Bucks

Register of Wills office organizes free wedding and vow renewal ceremonies for the county's veterans and first responders.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Bucks County's veterans and first responders who are planning to get married or renew their vows are invited to participate in the next Weddings for Heroes ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Bucks County Administration Building in Doylestown.

The wedding and vow-renewal ceremonies will be officiated by Patrick J. Murphy, 32nd Under
Secretary of the Army and former Bucks County Congressman and will take place from 12 to 2 p.m. in the third floor Rotunda under the direction of the Bucks County Register of Wills.

The free wedding will feature photography by Courtney Kanig Photography, live music by the Mervin Toussaint Jazz Band, videography by James Donnelly, cupcakes by Crossroads Bake Shop, and catering by Piccolo Trattoria. The first five participating couples will also receive a gift certificate for a night at 1740 House in Lumberville.

The registration deadline is Thursday, November 28. To begin the registration process, email willsandweddings@buckscounty.org. Couples looking to marry or renew their marriage vows must include at least one veteran or first-responder. Couples interested in the wedding ceremony must apply for and obtain their marriage license by Friday, November 29. The marriage license application can be found at www.buckscounty.gov/marriagelicenses.

“This will be our eighth Weddings for Heroes event. These weddings are a wonderful way for
the public to have a positive and even joyful interaction with local government. It’s so much
more fun than paying a ticket,” said Register of Wills and Clerk of the Orphans Court, Linda Bobrin, Esq.

Weddings for Heroes is made possible by donations from local businesses and individuals.
Two weddings are held each year: Vows and Valentines in February and Vows and Veterans in
the fall.
